The Squamish Hospice Society and the Squamish Fire Rescue are co-sponsoring the second annual Hike for Hospice.

Working on Lower Diamondhead. Meet in the Diamondhead shuttle parkinglot @10:00am. Please park respectfully and be aware of traffic on the roads. We'll continue what we started last weekend, get it dialled!

Pre-race meeting starts at noon, races begin at 1:00 pm unless otherwise notified.

Participants should contact fleet captain Pam Temple-Hurley at ptemple-hurley@sd48.bc.ca to set up committee boat dates. A sign up sheet is posted in the clubhouse.

Lots of fun for mountain bike riders of all levels. Toonie races every second Wednesdays feature 1-1.5 hour course and sponsored post-race party. Social Rides are non-competitive guided rides for riders new to Squamish and/or mountain biking. Downhill races are open to everyone, and end with a backyard BBQ along with the social ride participants

You only have to hear spoken word virtuoso Shane Koyczan once and you’re hooked--humane, furious, sexy, political, tragic, and so funny you’ll be laughing through your tears.  

An opportunity for all parents to meet local resources and discuss strategies for supporting children & youth in making healthy choices.

The same content will be presented at both locations.

Hey Park riders, now  that we have sprung forward into spring gaining more hours of daylight, our collective minds have shifted to opening strategies. Groundhog Day came a few weeks ago and depending on the varmint you spoke to, it appears that spring will indeed follow winter again this year.

Social Rides are non-competitive guided rides for riders new to Squamish and/or mountain biking. On February 27th 2000 three intrepid adventures (Kevin Vallely, Andy Sterns, Dave Norona) set off on the 1800 km Iditarod Trail during the Iditasport Impossible Race to Nome. During their 33 day odyssey they fought off minus 65 temperatures, 2 near death encounters and forged a lifetime friendship.

Meet us @ 10:00am in the cul-de-sac just above Quest on Mamquam Rd. We'll stock up on food, tools, coffees, and redbulls, and head up to the top of 19th. We'll finish the major sidehill re-routes that we started on Trail Day #6, avoiding the nastiest and most dangerous parts of the trail. Come out and be a part of the crew that transforms this classic DH trail forever.

Pre-race meeting starts at noon, races begin at 1:00 pm unless otherwise notified.

Participants should contact fleet captain Pam Temple-Hurley at ptemple-hurley@sd48.bc.ca to set up committee boat dates. A sign up sheet is posted in the clubhouse.

The 2009 Squamish Garden Tour will be held on Sunday, June 14 from 9 am until 4 pm. Tickets are available from The Bookshelf, Anna's Attic, Billie's Bouquet, The Adventure Centre, Garibaldi Nurseries and the Squamish Public Library, as well as at the gardens on display. Tour the ten wonderful gardens on the program and enjoy a coffee and local art exhibition at Quest University.

Meet us @ 10:00am in the cul-de-sac just above Quest on Mamquam Rd. We'll hike up from the bottom of Skookum, raking and buffing Skookum, and doing some major re-routing and draining of the lower sections of Upper PowerSmart. If you're new to town theres no easier way to connect with the local riding scene than by showing up to the SORCA Trail Days and meeting people.

You'll start immediately following the Test of Metal and follow the course down the highway, up Skyline, and around Kintyre. Then you'll split off and end your ride on Perth for some refreshments and an awards ceremony. It's all in good fun.

The NSCU Squamish Test of Metal cross-country mountain bike race is many things to many people.

On paper it’s a 67-kilometre course with over 1,200 meters of climbing and 35 kilometers of single-track.

Off paper it’s an unforgettable day for everyone involved from the organizers and volunteers, to the thousands of spectators and of course the riders.

The Squamish Sikh Society will hold a community celebration and parade to commemorate the Shaheedi Gurpurb, or martyrdom, of Fifth Guru Arjun De Ji. There will be a street parade through downtown Squamish and associated short readings and verbal presentations at pavillion park.

The Art at the Market gallery is a group exhibition by VISUALS (held on three separate days in summer. Enjoy an exciting array of paintings, photography, pottery, stained glass, jewelry and more. Entry is absolutely free. Come to simply view an eclectic collection of fine art. You may also discover pieces that will transform your home or office (suitable for all tastes and budgets).

The Squamish Youth Resource Centre is open from 3-9, seven days a week to provide a safe place for all youth 13-18 years old. On June 27 we are holding our annual Open House, and wish to extend an invitation to the community to join us in celebrating youth and discovering the abundance of services available to them.

The UpStares Gallery is a full time visual art venue located downtown at 37991 Cleveland Ave, across from Cleveland Park and the Squamish Art Council Building. It is owned and operated by three local artists: Linda Bachman, Judy McQuinn, and Michael Kanka.

Dr Veronica Gventsadze of Garibalidi Veterinary Hospital will make a presentation on pet nutrition, with topics including selection and amount of food to feed, reading pet food labels, food and dental health, and some common medical conditions and nutrition as medicine. Come celebrate Canada's birthday at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park.

Registration takes place at the NEW Pemberton Community Centre at 08:00 with the run starting at 08:30. This is A fairly flat 7 km run with a combination of pavement and sandy trails, not to mention a couple of fences, just to keep things interesting - what better way to celebrate Canada Day! Cost: $10/adult; $5/child or $20 family.

A chair carving contest unique to Squamish in which chairs of all shapes and sizes are carved out of logs using chainsaws. Judging and auctioning of chairs takes place at approximately 5:00 pm, with all proceeds going to Big Brothers & Big Sisters Squamish. Squamish Station Mall.

Concert 4 A Cure is a benefit concert consisting of local musicians banding together to show their support for those infected with HIV/AIDS in Africa. 100% of all proceeds will go towards the Global Fund and help save lives and end the epidemic. 4 bands will be taking the stage at the Eagle Eye Theatre in Squamish during the Squamish Days Festival on July 31.

Born in New York, Alex has worked in theatre and film for forty years and has appeared in over one hundred films, television shows and plays. He has an extensive directing background and is a highly respected acting teacher and coach in the Vancouver film community and the founder of The Bruhanski Acting Studio.

Youth Sailing and Kayaking camp stating August 3 for four 5 day sessions 9 am - 4 pm at the Squamish Yacht Club. This program has never been offered in Squamish and we needs participants to make it a success. We have new sail boats, new kayaks, an experienced instructor and eager volunteers. All that we need now are the kids.

Summer in the Sea to Sky area is a great time to get out outside and exercise! But why take the risk of going alone? Join a group of us for hikes Sunday mornings at 8:30 am (2-3 hours) and Tuesdays at 6:15 pm (approximately 1.5-2 hours), starting Sunday, July 12th running until August 30th.

Watch as fire transforms copper into incredible artisan work. From metal art to pottery, jewellery and more, you'll find a dazzling array or original crafts to treasure plus you'll enjoy LIVE demonstrations.

Gear and equipment trade fair, flashed dyno comp, LaSportiva Twoonie Scrmble, beer garden and more at the Squamish Adventure Centre.

Youth Sailing and Kayaking camp stating August 3 for four 5 day sessions 9 am - 4 pm at the Squamish Yacht Club. This program has never been offered in Squamish and we needs participants to make it a success. We have new sail boats, new kayaks, an experienced instructor and eager volunteers. All that we need now are the kids.

Social Rides are non-competitive guided rides for riders new to Squamish and/or mountain biking. Downhill races are open to everyone, and end with a backyard BBQ along with the social ride participants

Howe Sound Men's Soccer once again welcomes all new players and/or teams to the league starting Sunday, Sep 13, at 10:00 am. Brennan park. Practice times are Thursday nights 6 pm on Field 1, starting Thursday Aug 27. This season, the league hopes to have at least six teams involved, having had as many as 10 teams in the past.

Come on down for table hockey and other fundraising events to help raise money for Marc 'Fencepost' Griffin - a popular Squamish local and talented writer, Marc is struggling with MS and needs a laptop to continue his work.

The GrassRoots Jam at the BAG is celebrating its 5th Anniversary.  Before the GrassRoots Jam at the BAG there were very few places in Squamish that local musicians could get together and play and certainly nothing with the atmosphere that the Brackendale Art Gallery offers.

Autumn Tales is a musical adventure into autumn for kids ages 3-5. Local enironmental educator, Kimberly Armour, and musician Scott Gaudette, will lead the group on a journey exploring the sounds, smells, sights and texture of the changing season. Participants will learn about salmon, insects and other critters that share our community.

Let's Rock! Curling is a fun, social sport that keeps you active during the winter months in Squamish. The game is suited to both beginners and experienced players, and can accommodate singles, couples or teams of four. Howe Sound Curling Program runs from October through March with Leagues for Seniors, Men, Women, Mixed and Monday Night Charity league.
