Boat Tour of the Northern Sound Saturday

Touring Northern Howe Sound. Enjoy scenery and have fun! This custom boat tour opportunity has arisen from a project to identify and examine traditional Squamish place-name sites in northern Howe Sound. We need extra eyes and 'local knowledge' to help identify some of these sites from the water. Hand-out maps and information on these sites will be distributed. Tour(s) will be accompanied by Squamish Nation community representatives.
Itinerary: First to Defence Islands (old Squamish habitation/burial sites with structures visible), then to ancient rock paintings near Furry Creek - and on return trip, the site (called "Whal-wha-layten") near Watts Point where Squamish people first sited a European ship, plus other landmarks.
The Boat: Squamish Marine Services Ltd.'s 12-seat passenger boat, departing from Government Dock (small boat harbour, near Yacht Club)
Duration and Cost: 1hour, 30 minutes @ $30 per person
PLEASE NOTE: - If there is sufficient interest, additional boat tours will be scheduled. Some interested people have already indicated that a weekday morning is preferable - or at a later hour on Saturday. - Others have suggested that $20 better fits their budget. A one-hour tour can be arranged for $20 per person. - A trip to include Anvil Island, where there are some interesting heritage sites, has also been suggested.
YOUR SUGGESTIONS AND FEEDBACK WELCOME! FEEL FREE TO DISTRIBUTE THIS INVITATION TO FRIENDS!
PLEASE R.S.V.P. AS SOON AS POOSIBLE - IF YOU ARE INTERESTED TO JOIN SATURDAY'S TOUR. Advance bookings are necessary, as we need minimum 10 people per boat tour. CONTACT: Eric Andersen se_andersen@telus.net (604) 892-3342 4990 carolyn@squamishchamber.com
