Squamish Valley Equestrian Association "English Hunter" Horse Show
The Squamish Valley Equestrian Association (SVEA) will be holding their second horse show of the year on Sunday July 12th. This will take place at the SVEA club land situated behind the Loggers Sports ground off Loggers Lane in Squamish.
The show will begin at 9.30am (rain or shine), and will consist of a variety of flat classes in the morning, followed by the jumping classes in the afternoon.
Some examples of classes to be included are “English Turnout”, where the horse and rider are judged on neatness and presentation; “Leadline” for the beginning riders requiring a handler; “English Pleasure” where the horse is judged on which one looks most pleasurable to ride; and “Road Hack” and “Show Hack” in which all 4 gaits (walk, trot, canter, and gallop) have to demonstrated for the judge.
The jumping starts off with ground pole and cross pole classes, and then progresses in height throughout the course of the afternoon with fences ranging from 2’ up to 2’ 9” high.
Spectators are very welcome, but please note that any dogs MUST be on a leash for the safety of horses and riders.
To access the SVEA horse show: either park in the car park next to the ball fields on Loggers Lane (opposite Raven Drive), and then walk through to the riding ring situated behind the Loggers Sports Ground, or park in Brennan Park Rec. Centre’s car park near the swimming pool entrance, and then follow the trail past the skateboard park and the soccer fields.
