National Drowning Prevention Week

Mark it on you summer calendar and come down to the Brennan Park Aquatic Centre to Celebrate the Lifesaving Societies National Drowning Prevention Week July 19th-25th. Join us in the weeklong celebration every day from 2:30-4pm for water safety demonstrations, games, skills development, prizes and fun.
We're launching the week off with a toonie swim and the official ‘Swim to Survive’ challenge July 19th 2:30-4 pm. Last year 189 people took the Swim to Survive Challenge and this year we want to top that number.
Come down anytime between now and July 25 and take the challenge.
The lifesaving Society's Swim to Survive standard defines the minimum swim skills needed to survive an unexpected fall into deep water. Most drownings occur close to safety (3- 15m) and most victims had no intention of going into the water. Swim to survive focuses on three basic survival skills: Roll into deep-water Tread water for one minute Swim 50m
