AdventureSmart and Squamish Search and Rescue would like to invite you to ‘Trail Sense at The Chief”

AdventureSmart and BC Search and Rescue have been very successful in educating the public about SAR prevention, with thousands of hikers and interested outdoor enthusiasts attending safety programs, learning more about being safe on the trails. With your support, this summer’s event can be a success! This local event gives the public a chance to see all the support that is in place for emergency management, search and rescue prevention, as well as how they can help as individuals and families with outdoor recreation safety.

The Situation:
Hiking in Squamish can be a fun and rewarding undertaking. The local trails provide scenic, often challenging terrain that is becoming increasingly popular with outdoor enthusiasts from all over the world. Well over ???? hikers undertake The Chief each year, making it one of the most popular trails in the area.

Regrettably, not everyone who sets off on these famed Squamish routes is prepared.

Objective:
Inform and educate hikers about responsible trail use in order to reduce associated injuries, fires and environmental damage. Inform and educate hikers about how they can help reduce the number and severity of search and rescues in BC.

Strategy:
Tents from all organizations will be set up at the base of The Chief.
