Dancing at the Crossroads: Creative Approaches to Intercultural Conflict Resolution.
Michelle LeBaron, a Professor of Law and Director of the Program on Dispute Resolution at the University of British Columbia will speak to an audience at Quest University Canada about her research on conflict resolution using expressive art forms.In conflict zones around the world where destruction and devastation occur, the arts flourish. In this presentation, Prof. LeBaron will investigate the practical tools used for conflict resolution with a focus on creative and expressive art forms based on movement. Using a range of tools from disciplines including neuroscience, intercultural communication, and conflict theory, LeBaron will guide her audience through new forms of expression, nuance, texture and complexity; potential pitfalls and cautions in using arts will also be identified. Professor LeBaron is one of a number of monthly presenters participating in Quest University Canada's colloquium series. This presentation will be held on the 3rd floor of the Library Building at Quest University Canada on January 24th at 7:30pm. We invite all members of the community to attend.
